DR. MARTENS X PLEASURES

Founded in Los Angeles in 2015, PLEASURES is a brand deeply rooted in the realms of music and punk. Making a significant impact on the fashion industry worldwide, PLEASURES’ bold, controversial approach was embraced by the streetwear scene. With both Dr. Martens and PLEASURES being heavily influenced by the gritty aesthetics of 90s grunge. Using this as a starting point for the visual language - Cece delved into the history of vintage zines, skateboarding culture, and the grunge movement.

The Results

It was important to incorporate analogue textures to inform the collage treatment - scanning in nails, burnt paper, paint and matches, inspired by DIY zines and gig posters. For art direction, the neutral colour palette of the shoe fabric needed to contrast with vibrant hues of paper and paint to serve as a framing device for the shoes, without compromising on grit.
