PRIDE

While art directing in-house at Doc Martens, Cece led the creative for Dr. Martens first ever global Pride campaign. Stepping away from rainbow shoes and pink-washing, the team brought to life an emotional, informative piece of film. Celebrating cross-generational LGBTQ+ conversations, focusing on community, activism, nightlife, sexuality and grief. The award winning film provided insight into queer communities in New York and London, which, despite hardship, continue pushing for change and self expression.

The first conversation taking place at a stripclub in East London between Lady Phyll, founder of UK Black Pride and founder of UK Trans Pride, Lucia Blayke. Both women talk us through their experiences of finding power in collective action, community and shared understanding between the lesbian and trans community.

The second chapter of the series depicts an intimate conversation between artist, activist and vogue dancer Kia and ex-club kid (and ballroom legend) Lee Soulja in Brooklyn, New York. The two friends discuss the importance of ballroom culture, navigating grief within the community and the disco movement in New York City in the 1970s.
